Now, onto recent happenings on my home waters. During the last few days of September and into October there have been nice hatches of caddis on the Cold River. There were no trout takers on a #14 elk hair, but I caught two rainbows and one brown on a #12 wooly bugger floated slowly. One rainbow was about 17 inches and the other rainbow to my surprise looked to have a belly full of eggs. I was under the impression that rainbows only spawned in the spring, but in researching this it seems that certain strains and some under certain conditions will spawn in the fall. If anyone can educate us more on this please write in.
