Cold River Guide Service and Outdoor Outfitters LLC provides fly fishing instruction and guiding in southwestern New Hampshire and southeastern Vermont.  We service beginners and experienced anglers and design packages to fit your needs.  Initial casting and equipment instruction can be offered, guiding for those unfamiliar with our home waters, or we can combine both.  Much of our guiding takes place on the 22-mile Cold River which runs through the rural towns of Unity, Lempster, Acworth, Alstead, Langdon and Walpole, including exclusive access to a 2 1/2 mile stretch of private water.  The Cold River is a fishery that receives very little fishing pressure, so solitude on the river is the norm.  On top of hatchery stocking each year, the river contains native brook and brown trout and in the lower reaches near the Connecticut River there is a healthy population of smallmouth bass.  We also provide packages for those who may be interested in fishing the excellent tailwaters of the Connecticut River from Bellows Falls, VT/North Walpole, NH down river through Westminster, VT/Walpole, NH.  This stretch receives a bit more fishing pressure but allows for wide open big river casting for sizable browns and rainbows and smallmouth that average three pounds. A guided outing can also be scheduled on the famed upper Connecticut in the northern part New Hampshire. Guiding is also available on the Ashuelot River, including the fly-fishing-only south branch, where there are wild brown and brook trout and stocked browns, on the state-designated trophy stretch of the Black River in Cavendish and Weathersfield, VT and on the fly-fishing only stretch of the Sugar River in Kelleyville, NH.  For anglers who want to take out their 2-3 weight rod and hit small streams, Cold River Guide Service can take you on Warren Brook, Great Brook or East Putney Brook to fish for wild brook trout and some naturalized browns .  For those who want the excitement of fishing dry flies on brook trout ponds or the thrill of fly fishing for smallmouth bass along the rocky shore on nearby lakes we can guide you there.  CLICK THE VIDEO BELOW TO SEE THE COLD RIVER AND THE LINK BELOW TO READ A BLOG ENTRY BY A COLD RIVER GUIDE SERVICE CLIENT.  Cold River Guide Service also provides bird watching tours to lead you to the hot spots in the Connecticut River Valley.
